Let's see, then, some suggestions for preserving and safeguarding the health of our garden:
- Do not walk on it if it is frozen: our lawn could turn yellow irreversibly due to the deterioration of the cells caused by the crushing.
- Avoid fertilizing with iron to re-green a yellowed lawn (they are fine in spring but can cause problems at this time)
- Remember to fertilize with a high potassium content before the intense cold: this nutrient helps it to strengthen its tissues and better overcome thermal stress.
- Keep the lawn clean : This is a simple but important operation for the health of the lawn, passing it frequently with a simple rake allows you to remove plant residues, dry leaves, pine needles and anything else and allows it to "breathe" and exchange CO2 by carrying out photosynthesis.
- Prune fruit trees : This operation should be carried out every year to ensure continuous and constant production over time and to preserve the health of the plant.
- Plan your work for spring: Gardening in winter requires less time than in other months of the year, so it's the right time to organize your spring work, choose and purchase any useful products.
- Be careful with irrigation systems : if they are not equipped with automatic drain valves, it is important to drain the water from the well using valves or solenoid valves to prevent the water from freezing and breaking the pipes in low temperatures.
